Root Zone Excavation & Invigoration
Root zone excavation and invigoration can restore the health and appearance of declining trees. In this process, the soil profile located around the root system is removed via air spade, thus minimizing damage to the root system. Any girdling or damaged roots are removed and a mixture of new soil, compost and leaf mold is added to the soil profile to invigorate the root systems.
Installing lightning rods and ground wires in large, important and irreplaceable trees will capture the electric charge from a lightning strike and run it harmlessly away from the tree.
Vertical mulching is the process of making many holes in the soil of the root zone of a particular tree to create entryways for air, moisture, and nutrients to reach the roots of a given tree. This process improves the overall health and vigor of any tree.
