FAQ

Please browse our frequently asked questions, and feel free to call us if your question is not answered here. We are always here to help!

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business since 1996. Founded by ISA Board Certified Master Arborist Steve Farrelly, Emerald Tree & Shrub Care Company provides expert services and care to residential and commercial clients throughout Westchester County, Fairfield County, and areas of New York

Is Emerald a local company?

Yes. Emerald Tree & Shrub Care Company has offices located in Scarsdale, NY and Stamford, CT. We serve clients residing in Westchester County, Fairfield County, and New York City

Do I have to be home when you do the work?

In many cases, you do not have to be home when our team is scheduled to complete a job. If you prefer to be home, our team will do our very best to accommodate your request.

Can you provide images of the trees to be trimmed, treated, and maintained?

Yes, we use advanced software that keeps an inventory of our client's properties. Our Plant Health Care clients receive access to thorough, easy-to-read maps that include a tree inventory, a history of treatments and services, as well as detailed cost breakdowns.

Are the products used for plant health care or pest control hazardous to my children and pets?

At Emerald, we protect the health of your family and landscaping with our conventional and environmentally safe insect control treatments. Additionally, our crews undergo training to ensure we are applying treatments using the most up to date industry standards.

Will heavy equipment be brought onto my property?

With your permission, we may need to bring our equipment onto your lawn to treat or remove trees. If this is the case, we use weight displacement mats that do not compact soil, leaving no evidence that our trucks were on your lawn.

Will you remove debris from the job?

Yes. At Emerald, cleanup is an important component of safety and tree care. Please discuss any questions or concerns with your Arborist Representative prior to beginning work.

Will I need to obtain a permit prior to work being done?

Depending on the area, you may need to obtain a permit. Permits vary from area to area, so please check with your Arborist Representative.

Will you (Emerald) get a permit for me?

Typically, it is the responsibility of the property owner to obtain necessary permits before a job begins. Our experts can advise you on the permits you need.

What does your industry say about safety during the COVID-19 outbreak?

The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) have partnered to issue guidance to assist the green industry.

Is Emerald considered an "essential business"?

Yes. Emerald provides essential services such as storm clean-up, ensuring roads and powerlines are clear so that health care providers, food suppliers and others can continue to provide essential services. We also ensure public safety through tree risk evaluations, invasive species detection and pest mitigation.

As we face a potential second-wave, what is Emerald’s response plan?

Emerald is prepared to continue operations and respond to your needs, questions, and concerns. Should circumstances change, we will contact you directly.
