Arborist Representative

Emerald Tree & Shrub Care is looking for an Arborist Representative to join our team. Arborist Representatives receive paid training, enabling them to become experts in our industry from day one.

What Training Looks Like:

-3-4 months working with our Plant Health Care crew to learn various processes, including scout inspections, inoculations, root pruning, and others

-3-4 months working with our General Tree care crews to learn about proper tree and shrub care maintenance, safety and ANSI guidelines, equipment use, maintenance work, and more

-3-4 months working with Emerald Certified Arborists to review customer relations, client retention, prospecting, strategic alliance development, scheduling, and more, under the direction of the Vice President of Arboricultural Services

What You’ll Do:

-Supply the sales manager with reports on client needs, problems, interests, and potential new services to sell in the future within your assigned territory

-Establish, cultivate, and maintain business relationships with pre-existing and potential clients to generate new business for the organization

-Expedite resolutions of client problems and complaints

-Prepare proposals and follow up ongoing new job proposals

-Contact homeowners and commercial clients to solicit reviews and referrals

-Develop new business, prepare, and present proposals and perform ongoing new job estimates

-Follow-up on payments for services rendered

What We’re Looking For:

-Must have hands-on knowledge and a passion for trees, shrubs, and the environment

-Have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills 

-Must have good people skills

-Valid, clean driver’s license is required

-Develop new business, prepare, and present proposals, and perform ongoing new job estimates

-Be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment

-The position is full-time, year-round, and involves a good mix of office and off-site work, visiting properties, overseeing locations, and promoting good business.

Office Assistant

Emerald Tree & Shrub Care is looking for an Office Assistant to support our administrative team. As an assistant, you will be responsible for:

-Answering all incoming telephone calls: effectively determine caller’s needs, transfer them to the appropriate extension, and take accurate messages as necessary

-Scheduling appointments for Arborist client visits

-Ensuring that adequate telephone coverage is maintained

-Support the office manager in ordering supplies and serving as an occasional backup

-Learn and utilize technology (phone systems, email programs, word processing programs, and software) to increase efficiency, communication, and performance of duties

-Perform general clerical tasks such as accepting deliveries, directing email queries, completing forms, ordering supplies, and other duties as necessary


-Must be able to multi-task and answer a high volume of calls in a friendly and efficient manner

-Must be dependable, energetic, and courteous with a positive attitude

-The candidate must possess a clear and professional speaking voice, excellent customer service, and communication skills

-Minimum one-year experience on a heavy traffic telephone system

-Good computer skills – knowledge of Outlook, data entry, and the internet

Tree Climber

What You’ll Do:

Our tree climbers are a key player in all tree care jobs performed. They must be able to take direction, strictly follow safety procedures, and be a go-getter, willing to do whatever is needed to get a job done. We use top of the line equipment and have leaders that are the best at what they do and offer a friendly work atmosphere.  

What We’re Looking For:

-Tree pruning based on ANSI A300 Standards

-Tree removal

-Use of heavy equipment such as aerial lift, chippers, chainsaw, as well as rope and saddle.

-Installation of cables and bracing

-Skilled knots and rigging techniques

-Valid Driver’s License required

-Full-time availability, 6 days per week

What You’ll Do:

  • Keep us rolling to our jobs by making sure that nothing is going to stop us!
  • Inspect and repair office vehicles and equipment including but not limited to:
    • CDL Vehicles: Bucket Trucks, Lg Trucks, Chip Trucks, etc. both gas & diesel
    • Pick-Up Trucks
    • Aerial Lifts
    • Brush Chippers
    • Mobile Equipment
  • Small Engine equipment including but not limited to Stump Grinders, Chainsaws, Blowers * Maintaining & documenting routine maintenance checks and required inspections (including Aerial Lift inspections, DOT, & NY State inspections)
  • Maintaining shop & assisting crews as needed with equipment repair needs
  • Order parts from various suppliers

What We’re Looking For:

  • Required: Experience in truck mechanical repairs, diesel engines, and hydraulics
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Required: Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Preferred experience with annual inspections, diagnosis and repair, welding, and fabrication-all a plus.
  • Bilingual a plus
