Uncover Hidden Problems. Restore Tree Vitality.
Root Zone Excavation & Invigoration
Root zone excavation and invigoration can restore the health and appearance of declining trees. In this process, the soil profile located around the root system is removed via air spade, thus minimizing damage to the root system. Any girdling or damaged roots are removed and a mixture of new soil, compost and leaf mold is added to the soil profile to invigorate the root systems.
What Is Root Zone Excavation?
Tree health starts below ground. Unfortunately, root issues often go undetected until visible decline occurs. Root zone excavation allows our certified arborists to safely expose the tree’s root flare using high-pressure air tools, without damaging the root system.
Once exposed, we assess for problems like girdling roots, poor planting depth, compaction, or decay. We then restore the area with biochar, compost, and organic soil amendments to reestablish a healthy growing environment.
