Custom Fertilization

Custom Fertilization

Tree and shrub fertilization is essential for establishing healthy, flourishing plantings. At Emerald, our fertilization treatments consist of custom-blended applications that we apply every year beginning in the spring. As the weather turns warmer, we adjust our treatments to help our client’s trees, shrubs, and landscapes remain healthy and strong.

Aerification of Compacted Soils

Compact soil around trees and shrubs limits water infiltration, reduces availability of oxygen to roots, and restricts plant growth. Aeration is a process that opens holes in the soil, allowing oxygen and water to penetrate the soil. By creating more openings and channels, natural root growth is accelerated, improving water and nutrients throughout your landscape.

An expert can determine a regular aeration schedule that can be accomplished through custom-liquid applications or mechanical means. An arborist can also determine when to aerify your lawn as cool-season grasses and warm-season grasses require different treatments during the growing season.

Mauget Systemic Injection Systems

Mauget systemic injections are important tools that help care for the greens on your property, keeping them healthy and beautiful for years to come. Each year, common threats such as pests can damage the trunk and limbs of trees, preventing new growth and causing serious damage. Systemic tree injections apply pesticides directly into the body of the tree to spread protection from within, minimizing the likelihood of treatments becoming dispersed from the elements.

A Certified Arborist can visit your property and recommend the right options for the variety of trees and pests that are common in your neighborhood. Shortly after, our experts use their wisdom, tools and techniques to apply the injections to protect your plantings.

Custom Blended Deep Root Liquid Fertilization

Emerald treats nutritional deficiencies in your landscape depending on each plant’s particular needs. Both plant tissue and soil samples are taken and tested to determine what nutritional deficiencies exist for a particular plant or plantings.

A custom blend of fertilizer containing macro and micro-nutrients as well as beneficial fungi is then hydraulically injected into the soil profile around the root zone of the plants. This allows for immediate uptake and use by the plant to make the necessary corrections in the deficiencies. A few benefits of custom blended deep root fertilization treatments include:

  • Quick Absorption by the Tree: because treatments are applied in a liquid form, the tree can absorb nutrients quicker than other materials. This method also helps aerate the soil, aiding with the absorption of water and nutrients.
  • Fertilization Created for Specific Tree’s Needs: similar to people, every tree is different and has different needs. Custom blended liquid fertilization allows our arborists to create a formula of nutrients based on the needs of your soil and trees. Our ISA-Certified Arborists can also ensure the correct amount is applied so that your tree develops in a healthy way.
  • More Accurate than Alternative Fertilizers: Deep root liquid fertilization is much more accurate than other forms of fertilizers (e.g. pellets, stakes, etc.). When applied by an expert Arborist, fertilization is applied only where and when it is needed, preventing overdosing.

In many cases, you do not have to be home when our team is scheduled to complete a job. If you prefer to be home, our team will do our very best to accommodate your request.

Can you provide images of the trees to be trimmed, treated, and maintained?

Yes, we use advanced software that keeps an inventory of our client’s properties. Our Plant Health Care clients receive access to thorough, easy-to-read maps that include a tree inventory, a history of treatments and services, as well as detailed cost breakdowns.

Are the products used for plant health care or pest control hazardous to my children and pets?

At Emerald, we protect the health of your family and landscaping with our conventional and environmentally safe insect control treatments. Additionally, our crews undergo training to ensure we are applying treatments using the most up to date industry standards.

Will heavy equipment be brought onto my property?

With your permission, we may need to bring our equipment onto your lawn to treat or remove trees. If this is the case, we use weight displacement mats that do not compact soil, leaving no evidence that our trucks were on your lawn.
