Pest Inspection

Routine landscape inspections help manage and treat insects and diseases before they become a major problem. At Emerald, our experts walk through properties to investigate for signs of invasive, destructive pests, including but not limited to scale insects, spider mites, Emerald Ash Borer, the Spotted Lanternfly and more.

Additional Benefits of Pest Inspections

Financial Protection. Pest problems can cause huge financial setbacks, as costs for treatment, tree, and shrub removal can add up quickly. Typically, homeowner’s insurance doesn’t provide coverage or benefits for damage caused by pests. As a result, your budget may take a big hit if you have to pay out of pocket for expenses after a storm, fees that could’ve been prevented with regular inspections.

Value Preservation. Homeowners who are thinking of selling their home should have their plantings checked for signs of pest activity. Inspections can help ensure effective treatment is made prior to placing a property on the market. Regular inspections can help preserve the life of your plantings and help increase the value and appeal of your home

Peace of Mind. At Emerald, we feel that everyone should have the peace of mind knowing their trees, shrubs and properties are safe. Having peace of mind that families, friends and pets are safe year-round is an invaluable feeling. Healthy plantings on properties and green spaces can ensure all will safely enjoy seasonal gatherings, time spent in the backyard, and the peace of mind knowing your home is in the best possible shape to withstand storms throughout the year

Prevention. The purpose of pest inspections is to nip problems before they become hazards. Even if you don’t see visible signs of mites, scales, borers or other insects, these problems can grow undetected over time. An expert can save you money, preserve the safety of your home, and the life of your trees and shrubs

Identify Structural Problems

‘Are my trees healthy?’ We hear this question from our clients often. While there are no guarantees in nature, our experts can inspect for and identify structural problems that can result in broken branches or decline of tree health.

Symptoms of Decay. such as cracks, splits, root problems, over extended limbs, and more

Leaning Trees. Which may make a tree unsafe for homeowners and the surrounded property. Trees that suddenly lean, trees that lean after a storm, a change to the lean, or if the soil around the tree is cracked or heaving are all causes for concern.

While many defects can be spotted by a trained eye, others require a detailed assessment using state-of-the-art instruments to gauge the severity of problems. After an evaluation, an expert can determine if remedial treatments can reduce risk.

Tree Inventory. Our Arborists do our best work when we can make informed decisions through in-depth record keeping and database management. At Emerald, we use technology that allows us to take personal inventory of our clients properties, data that we use to make informed decisions to help maintain trees, shrubs and other areas of a landscape.

Through Emerald’s tree inventory system, we are able to gather information on plant species, quantities, condition, location, size, maintenance requirements and so much more.  Using our proven system, our experts then implement tailor-made management plans that fit the Plant Health Care needs and goals of our clients.

Lab Testing. Lab testing helps our Arborists extract samples for lab analysis. Scientists can test every part of the tree, which means identifying microscopic fungal growth, root rot or more. Lab testing can also check for soil deficiencies or other problems near the base of trees and shrubs.

Do I have to be home when you do the work?

In many cases, you do not have to be home when our team is scheduled to complete a job. If you prefer to be home, our team will do our very best to accommodate your request.

Can you provide images of the trees to be trimmed, treated, and maintained?

Yes, we use advanced software that keeps an inventory of our client’s properties. Our Plant Health Care clients receive access to thorough, easy-to-read maps that include a tree inventory, a history of treatments and services, as well as detailed cost breakdowns.

Are the products used for plant health care or pest control hazardous to my children and pets?

At Emerald, we protect the health of your family and landscaping with our conventional and environmentally safe insect control treatments. Additionally, our crews undergo training to ensure we are applying treatments using the most up to date industry standards.

Will heavy equipment be brought onto my property?

With your permission, we may need to bring our equipment onto your lawn to treat or remove trees. If this is the case, we use weight displacement mats that do not compact soil, leaving no evidence that our trucks were on your lawn.

Will you remove debris from the job?

Yes. At Emerald, cleanup is an important component of safety and tree care. Please discuss any questions or concerns with your Arborist Representative prior to beginning work.
