Organic Mosquito and Control Services

Keep your family, friends, and pets safe with Emerald’s Integrated Pest Management.

Integrated Pest Management

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to tick and mosquito control. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

ORGANIC MOSQUITO CONTROL

Mosquitoes are common, flying insects that live in most parts of the world. Over 3,500 types of mosquitoes can be found worldwide. Over 200 types of mosquitoes live in the continental United States and US territories

Some mosquitoes can be vectors. A vector is an animal, insect, or tick that spreads pathogens (germs) to people and animals. The germs (viruses and parasites) that mosquitoes spread can make you sick.

Mosquito Control

Diseases Spread By Mosquitos

West Nile. This virus can cause high fevers, headaches, muscle weakness, vision loss and more. Individuals over the age of 60 are at greater risk.

Zika. This virus is spread through the bites of Aedes mosquitoes. Those who do get sick usually experience mild symptoms, including fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes.

Eastern Equine Encephalitis (“EEE”). This virus is very rare but serious. It occurs four to ten days after a person has been infected, with symptoms including fever, tiredness, headaches, neck stiffness and more.

Stop the Spread

Emerald uses an integrated mosquito management (IMM) approach. IMM uses a combination of methods to prevent and control both nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes that spread viruses like dengue, West Nile, Zika, and others. Mosquito control plans include controlling mosquito populations before people start getting sick with a virus spread by mosquitoes.

IMM uses methods to control mosquitoes based on an understanding of mosquito biology, the mosquito life cycle, and the way mosquitoes spread viruses. The methods used, when followed correctly, are safe and have been scientifically proven to reduce mosquito populations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business since 1996. Founded by ISA Board Certified Master Arborist Steve Farrelly, Emerald Tree & Shrub Care Company provides expert services and care to residential and commercial clients throughout Westchester County, Fairfield County, and areas of New York.

Is Emerald a local company?

Yes. Emerald Tree & Shrub Care Company has offices located in Scarsdale, NY and Stamford, CT. We serve clients residing in Westchester County, Fairfield County, and New York City.

Do I have to be home when you do the work?

In many cases, you do not have to be home when our team is scheduled to complete a job. If you prefer to be home, our team will do our very best to accommodate your request.

Can you provide images of the trees to be trimmed, treated, and maintained?

Yes, we use advanced software that keeps an inventory of our client’s properties. Our Plant Health Care clients receive access to thorough, easy-to-read maps that include a tree inventory, a history of treatments and services, as well as detailed cost breakdowns.

Are the products used for plant health care or pest control hazardous to my children and pets?

At Emerald, we protect the health of your family and landscaping with our conventional and environmentally safe insect control treatments. Additionally, our crews undergo training to ensure we are applying treatments using the most up to date industry standards.

Will heavy equipment be brought onto my property?

With your permission, we may need to bring our equipment onto your lawn to treat or remove trees. If this is the case, we use weight displacement mats that do not compact soil, leaving no evidence that our trucks were on your lawn.

Will you remove debris from the job?

Yes. At Emerald, cleanup is an important component of safety and tree care. Please discuss any questions or concerns with your Arborist Representative prior to beginning work.

Will I need to obtain a permit prior to work being done?

Depending on the area, you may need to obtain a permit. Permits vary from area to area, so please check with your Arborist Representative.

Will you (Emerald) get a permit for me?

Typically, it is the responsibility of the property owner to obtain necessary permits before a job begins. Our experts can advise you on the permits you need.

Can I see the product labels for products you use?

Yes. We provide access to copies of all our product labels. If you have any questions about the products we use, please call us at (914) 350-2224.
